The Challenge
Power quality analysis identified elevated total harmonic distortion on electrical feeders serving rectifier and support infrastructure. Measurements showed harmonic content high enough to raise concerns around transformer heating, conductor losses, and long-term equipment reliability. Given the mission-critical nature of the facility, any solution needed to be implemented without downtime or disruption to network operations.
The Solution
XCT deployed Xeco ECBS units at strategic points to mitigate harmonics generated by nonlinear loads at the source. The system dynamically shunted harmonic currents away from the electrical distribution network, preventing distortion from propagating upstream into transformers and service equipment. Installation was completed with no impact to live operations.
The Results
Post-installation measurements demonstrated a substantial reduction in harmonic distortion across monitored electrical parameters. Harmonic levels were brought closer to recommended operating limits, reducing thermal loading and improving overall power quality stability under continuous operation.
The Impact
By correcting harmonics at the load level, the facility improved electrical system resilience without costly infrastructure upgrades or equipment replacement. The project validated a scalable approach to power quality management for telecommunications environments with dense power electronics and 24/7 uptime requirements.
